A Talk With James

[Sirius closes the bedroom door quietly behind him to let Remus get a little more sleep. His hair is rumpled and matted the way it only gets when he's slept as Padfoot, and he's still wearing the equally rumpled

[James wakes up slowly under the petting and immediately stretches to get the kink out of his back] morning, sofa's really weren't meant for sleeping on

Not really. [But Remus' were.] Why'd you sleep out here anyway?

[prongs_jamesp]

I think I fell asleep, mid word to Remus, huh looks like he made it to bed

He came in not too long ago.

[prongs_jamesp]

Cool, you coulda woken us up last night when you got in

[sonofthestars]

[Sirius shakes his head,] No... Remus and I were fighting and I didn't want to wake you.

[prongs_jamesp]

[James sits up and looks down at Sirius] what the heck were you two fighting about?

[sonofthestars]

[Sirius sits up and moves to the other end of the couch and picks up a pillow for something to do with his hands. His voice is so soft, he doesn't know if James will even hear,] You.

[prongs_jamesp]

[James looks very startled] What? Me? Why on earth ? Did I do something?

[sonofthestars]

No... sort of... no. [Sirius runs his fingers through his hair the way he does when he's frustrated,] But we need to talk about it. You and me.

[prongs_jamesp]

Yeah? [James leans his head back against the sofa] fire away if something is eating you up

[sonofthestars]

Do you love Lily?

[prongs_jamesp]

Yes, [James has no idea where this is going, but he has no hesitation with this reply]

You really, truly love her?

[prongs_jamesp]

Yes, Sirius, course I bloody do

[Sirius gets quiet for a moment and his eyes are conflicted while he wages an internal war]
