[Sirius escapes into the cool air outside, after just having his mind destroyed by the many different stories and incarnations of himself and Remus that all happened to be in the same room together

[Remus walks over silently and sits down beside Sirius. He reaches into his denim jacket and pulls a slightly crumpled packet of cigarettes free. He tucks one behind his head before offering them to Sirius, idly flicking the lighter on and off with his other hand]
[Sirius doesn't have to look up to know it's Remus-- his Remus-- sitting next to him. He knows it's not the best decision to remain sitting there, even if it was Remus who came to see him. If anything, Remus was probably just there to tell him that it was over for good.]
[He unconsciously takes one of the offered cigarettes and fiddles with it between his fingers, unwilling to light it just yet.]
I don't think I can do this right now, Remus. I got a little too much information inside, and I'm still trying to sort through it. [He sounds exhausted, and his words are tired, as if they've been said over and over until they've lost all meaning. I don't want a fight, Remus. Not now, not anymore. You wanted a clean break, and I'm giving it to you.
No. [Remus sounds determined despite the terrified waver in his voice] No, we have to do this now Padfoot. I have to do this now, all right? I have to talk to you right this second before I lose my bottle and the whole Universe goes to shit.
[Remus speaks quietly but forcefully] Because this time I'm fighting it, I'm fighting for you, Sirius. You drive me so fucking crazy sometimes, you really do. But you mean the world to me and I - [he scrunches up his face and tries to find the words] Bollocks to this.
[Remus steps up from the bench before sinking to his knees in front of Sirius's bowed head so that the dark haired boy has to look at him.] I love you, Padfoot, I always have, I always will. You belong with me. [and with that Remus is cupping Sirius's head in his hands and kissing him, wrapping his arms around Sirius's neck to hold him in place]
[Sirius' heart surges at Remus' words. They were the most beautiful words he would ever hear. They were the words he'd waited for seven desperate years to hear, but still his entire body is tense when Remus sinks to his knees. Sirius' voice is nothing above a whisper]
Moony...
[And then Remus is kissing him, and it's different than their first kiss. It's different than any other kiss they'd shared. It is soft and slow, and so filled with love it takes Sirius' breath away. When he finally pulls back to breathe he rests his forehead against Remus'. His fingers are gripping the smaller boy's shoulders, and he's still afraid to let go out of fear of losing him.
[Remus smiles at him brightly and it's not marred by the sadness that's been covering him the past few days, it's soft and fond and daft, just how Remus feels] You, actually. Well, the other you. We kind of talked and he - he just made me realise that you're basically always going to be an idiot when it comes to this but that you're still you. You're still the boy I'd follow anywhere, even when I end up covered in slime and with four month's detention. You're still the boy who let me climb in to your bed when I was scared. You're still the boy who's always there for me, Sirius. And I need you, I can't imagine being without you, and you mean more to me than a stupid mistake. I love you, Sirius, I really bloody love you and I don't ever want you to go.
[Sirius slides off the bench so he is sitting knee-to-knee and chest-to-chest with Moony. He tightens his hold on the thin body and buries his face in Moony's neck, breathing in the scent as if he would die without it.]
I love you, Moony.
[Sirius was entirely content to stay there, wrapped in warm arms forever, but then his knee gave a mighty twinge and he flinched, drawing away from Remus to relieve the pressure from sitting on his knee.]
[Remus clings to him tightly, heart fluttering dangerously when Sirius speaks. He presses a kiss against Sirius's neck and grins when the other boy pulls back] We need to properly talk soon but s'fucking cold on this here ground Padfoot, lets go and invade that bastard Potter's flat so I can tell him to stop being a git. Hm?
[Sirius pushes himself back onto the bench and rubs at his sore knee. He must've knocked it better than he had thought during the full moon, because it hurt something awful. He pulls out his wand and tries to remember the spell to lessen swelling.]
[mutters] I can't wait for Padfoot to grow into his fucking paws.
[Sirius smiles and leans forward as if to kiss Remus, but turns his head at the last second to sloppily lick his cheek instead. He pulls away with a grin and offers Remus a hand up.]

[Sirius can feel the sharp and rough edges of his broken heart. He fears they are about to get trampled on again.]
What makes this time any different?
[He's still rolling the cigarette between his fingers, but he does nothing to stop Remus from talking or persuade him to do otherwise.]

[and then with a soft grin Remus scoots forward and presses a kiss to Sirius's kneecap] There, all better.
