[Saturday morning comes quickly. Sirius had spoken to Mrs. Peterson the night before and he's been moving about the room packing while he waits for Lily. His seven compartment trunk with expanded space inside is more than large enough to carry all of his things without triggering any magical regulations in a Muggle household.]
[He'd given Lily

She quickly straightens out her dress and pats down her hair. If Mrs Peterson was home, she'd like to make sure there was little ammo in her arsenal. Comments about her appearance were strictly Tuney's territory.]

[The older woman purses her lips when she sees Lily on the doorstep.] You must be Lily. [Her voice is far from kind.] Come in then.

[She walks in and looks around, waiting for Mrs Peterson. She's unsure of what to do in this situation, so she does what her mother's always told her - be polite.] It's nice to meet you, Mrs Peterson. Sirius has told me a lot about you. [She smiles, though, on the inside, she's disagreeing with her words. She's never felt this unsure before. Where'd my Gryffindor bravery go?]

[Mrs. Peterson's look softens when Sirius arrives,] Yes, Sirius. Now why don't you two go pack your things and I will finish making your lunch.

[He smiles, taking the chance to really look at what she's wearing,] You look nice today. I wasn't aware we were getting dressed up to move my things.

Thank you. But compliments will get you nowhere, Sirius Black. [She smiles, nonetheless.] And I actually wanted to dress nicely to impress - and I woke up feeling it was just one of those days where I wanted to make a little effort. [Teasing] It had nothing to do with you.
[Lily slips into what she can only describe as Head Girl Lily. Business is suddenly on the brain.] Where's your lovely room? [She grins mischieviously.] I want to kick the door closed. [Of course, she's all bark and no bite. Merlin forbid she anger this woman even more with the way she smiles or the way she packs things. The further away from Mrs Peterson she is, the better her temper will cool down.]

[The hand on her back pushes her towards the next flight of stairs.] Next floor up. It's the only thing up there.
