So things are looking up. I found a really awesome ship at the bottom of the ocean, and now Kaku is helping me repair it. I've decided to name her Calypso. Annabeth would probably...not be happy with that. But maybe it will make her angry enough that she'll show up

Yeah, I'm really glad things have fallen into place pretty easily. The gods must be looking out for me.

Well, considering one of them is your DAD...

How many gods do you have in your world, anyway?

Yeah, that helps. Or hurts, depending.

Well there are twelve main gods. The Olympians. But then there are a lot of lesser gods too. I'm not sure how many there are, exactly.

Depending on what?

...huh. I met a god once. Sort of. He was bad news. And...really just a jerk all around.

Depending how how much a god likes you.

Some of them are like that. But some of them are actually pretty cool.

...oh. Yeah, makes sense. Uh, so are you and your dad close?

Just like regular people, huh?

Not really. I guess as close as a demigod can be to their godly parent, but...I didn't even meet him until I was twelve. I can count the number of times I've seen him in person on my fingers. But he watches out for me. He listens when I talk to him.

Yeah. Pretty much.

Huh. Well...yeah, that's more than a lot of people can say, I guess.

...you know, when you say god...you really mean GOD, right? Not just...delusional megalomaniac with crazy powers?

Yeah, it is. I'm lucky. My father even once told me that I was his favorite.

Right. Real gods.

...oh. Got a lot of brothers and sisters?

Right. Just checking.

Half-brothers and sisters, yeah. My father has been reigning over the seas for over two thousand years. I'm the only demigod son he has at the moment, but there are a lot of immortal children of Poseidon.

You've met the other kind, I'm guessing?

Oh. Well, that must be kind of nice, right? Having a big family?

Yup.

We don't all get along. A lot of them resent me. But yeah, I guess.

Well the ones I know are real.

...oh. Well, that's...less nice, then. But still! I don't have any brothers or sisters, not even half-ones. ...at least, I'm pretty sure I don't.

So. They hang out in the sky and...answer prayers and that kinds stuff?

I didn't know I had any siblings for a long time. I've got one I like a whole lot, though. He's a Cyclops.

They're a little more hands-on than that, but kind of.
