Breakup Blues

Lamorak is, in the best tradition of messy breakups, making his way to the kitchens with the intention of getting roaring drunk.  He's sober for now, though, and might actually welcome some company, depending on who it is.

Elaine is already there, putting away the dishes from supper, which Lynette picked at and Modred mostly ignored. She turns to get out of his way, and then hesitates. "Sir?"

"Elaine... I..." He's at a bit of a loss, angry and hurt and not quite sure how things went bad so very fast.

"Is everything all right?" taking his hand gently.

[sonofpellinore]

He shakes his head. "Forgive me. I'm a bit..." His voice breaks a little.

Elaine squeezes his fingers. "What can I do, sir?"

[sonofpellinore]

He looks at her a moment, then kisses her, rather hard.

Well, all right. She slips her arms about his waist and kisses back.

And while this may not be what he most wants, he doesn't know what that is, so this will do. He maneuvers them to the nearest empty room.

Elaine has the presence of mind to shut the door, and then kisses him again.

Some time later (we'll assume they actually did make it to the bed), his breath comes back and he closes his eyes, swearing softly.

She lies quiet and close against him, waiting patiently.

[sonofpellinore]

"...thank you. I'd rather have fought it out, but..."

[star_in_night]

"It's no trouble, sir," matter-of-fact as if she'd brought him tea.

[sonofpellinore]

A fluent line of Welsh profanity, then he sits up.

"Sir?"

[sonofpellinore]

"I left her. The queen. God in heaven. I can't believe I did that."
