King Rat, Brief History of Time, The Power of Focus

Finished up King Rat (China Mieville) yesterday, not a bad book I suppose, but I can feel myself getting a bit bored with fiction for now. Chunked through some more of A Brief History of Time yesterday and I noticed that I kept hearing Steven Hawking sounding like Vizzini's voice from the Princess Bride as he was making his little physics jokes. e.g. (paraphrase) -

I lost the bet with my mates about whether or not it was possible to actually *see* a naked singularity, because of course as we all know, light can't escape from the event horizon, and yet they gave me several scenarios that, however unlikely, weren't altogether impossible, so I had to concede. And as a result of losing the bet I had to clothe the naked singularity... har har har. INCONCEIVABLE!

Anyway, I'm enjoying the book, although I'm looking forward to my second or third read where a lot of this will be a little more obvious.

I also had been thinking about re-reading Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting, but as I went throught he bookshelves last night, I found The Power of Focus (Canfield, Hansen and Hewitt) which is covering similar principles with a bit more structure, so I brought that in with me this morning. So far so good.
