Vive la France!
Looking back at my past few entries, I realized it my LJ looks like a dubious sports blog. Someone who didn't know me and read my LJ would get a rather skewed view of what I'm like, one thinks. Perhaps at some point I will make non-sporty posts. That point, however, has not yet arrived.
First, the furry part: France has been baaaaalling it up! I can't say I've watched any of the games, because soccer is not as amusing as various other sports. Nonetheless, I was quite content to hear of France's victories over first Brazil and then Portugal, which earned them their second trip to the finals in the past three Cups. One hopes that they will beat down Italy.
Then, the not-so-furry part: Beepish Ben hared away! He should be tapped! It is Rather Rubbish that next year the Pistons will have Malicious Mohammed rolling around the paint instead of Big'un Ben. One also fears that one will be tempted to root for the Bulls next year, as one will be in Chicago and they are likely to be furry. Though I still defend my decision to stop fitching about the franchise after 1998, one must acknowledge that it would smack of fairweather-fandom to start rooting for them now. However, even though the Pistons will be different without Ben, they still have 4 of the 5 Furry Starters, and one will still be supporting them wholeheartedly.
Another truc: Back in the midst of the NBA playoffs, Father asked me an interesting question. If one were going to fetch five players to comprise a team that you thought would have the best chance of winning the championship, playing against other five-foolio teams, whom would you fetch? Oen later posed this question to Adam. Here are the teams we assembled:
Adam:
PG - Steve Nash
G - Kobe Bryant
SF - Vince Carter
PF - Rasheed Wallace
C - Yao Ming
Chard:
PG - Chauncey Billups
G - Dwyane Wade
SF - LeBron James
PF - Dirk Nowitzki
C - Tim Duncan
I think Chard's team would dispose of Adam's team. What do y'all think? Make your own teams if you wish. Remember, this isn't fantasy basketball - in the imaginary scenario, the five characters will be playing together over the course of the season.
