So we get closer to election day and we will see which way the country turns. It's interesting to watch the GOPers and Tea Baggers whinging about deadlock and how Obama can't do anything when these fuckers block everything he tries to do ( Read more... )

Taking the pessimistic view that the GOP prevails, we would see them passing all sorts of measures, Obama would veto him, and we'd hear the GOP whinging about how the majority is having its will thwarted by the minority and the followers of Beck/Limbaugh/Hannity nodding their heads like this is something brand new.

An interesting aside- I'm reading a book on the history and collapse of the Soviet Union and a large part of the Soviet control rested upon a control of current events and history by the Communist Party. We see a twisted version here in the US- people are only too eager to gobble up the mush offered to them and don't even trust their own memories or take a moment to do a bit of research. If Beck/Hannity/Limbaugh say it is or was, so be it.

And a second interesting aside- while the GOP obstructs and fucks up the recovery efforts, big story on yahoo.com about China's booming economy and all the huge projects coming on line that will allow them to expand even more. I take a certain sad pride in having said, going back to the Reign of the Prodigal Idiot Son President, that in the future we will be a slave state to China, thanks to the policies of the GOP. That day might be closer than we think.

Sure, they'll whine, but it won't sell. They tried that during the Clinton administration, and it ended horribly for them. Obama's also already fired a few warning shots across the bow.

Besides, most projections show them having, at best, a twenty seat advantage in the House and not winning the Senate. That means all they really have to do is keep alienating their moderates and soon the elected leadership will have a real leadership to deal with.
