Fanciful in Furs

I recently started skirmishing with Dezi. Skirmishing, in LotRO, is kind of like a game of capture-the-flag, except your side only has a small handful of people and the other side has approximately a billion. It's decently fun though, and gives you a good chunk of experience, so it's a great way to level up especially if you're having trouble with the quests you've gotten for your level *COUGH*GARTHAGARWEN*COUGH*. You can also get some deeds, cash, and you get things called skirmish marks which you can trade in for gear, cosmetics, and upgrades for the soldier who's assigned to follow you around and watch your back.

After my first skirmish, I spent a lot of time clicking through all the traders looking at their stuff. I found some SUPER cool-looking helmets (I bought them purely for appearance because Dezi can craft himself better armor than the skirmish traders have. Wheee, metalsmithing!) and some awesome cosmetics. I've put together a new cold-weather outfit for Dezi and Wyn to share, pictured below. Also, today Dezi got his quest reward for helping the poor during WinterFest! I now have all the different winterquest outfit quest rewards, so there's some fancy combinations that can be made.

Here's Dezi in his new formal outfit. Doesn't he look handsome? And awkward? This is a boy whose favored mode of dress is battered jeans and band t-shirts, but he cleans up rather well, considering.

This is the new outfit I made out of a cloak and set of boots I got from skirmish bartering. They both had burgundy and light blue in them, and I thought, "Hm. I have something that's burgundy and light blue, don't I?" Sure enough, Wyn's elven hauberk matched them perfectly. Throw in a white scarf, and the effect is rather nice, don't you think? I still need to get the oven mitts, which look just like mittens, to complete the look for Dezi.

Here's a better picture of the cloak. I love the detail on this, I think it's really interesting. Word to the wise, the skirmish barter traders have a whole lot of awesome cosmetics, so be on the lookout for more pic-spam!

And here's Wyn in the same outfit. She pulls it off not necessarily better than Dezi, but differently than Dezi at least.

Since Dezi got both the dress and the robe, I went ahead and used the wardrobe function to see how the dress looks on Wyn, who generally does not look wonderful in dresses. Much to my surprise (not really, this cosmetic is AWESOME) it actually looks amazing on her, so I think she'll need to keep it for a bit.

I also found a really, really cool hauberk that Wyn was able to earn tonight. She wasn't able to get the matching cloak, and we're going to have to grind for days to get any of the neat circlets or the cool hat we want, but in the meantime, this is a work-in-progress fire-themed outfit.

We did grab Astrid a map-maker's backpack, but that's not nearly as interesting so it can wait.
