Media 2.0 Class Project

Nov 21, 2008 18:29

I am taking a class at the University of Memphis COMM 4219 Product Distribution in the Internet Age. Part of the class is to create a Media 2.0 project and distribute it via as many avenues as possible. I decided to create a video blog reviewing music. This is my official intro. I am currently a student at the University of Memphis pursuing my second undergraduate degree which is in communications. I created this blog as a weird class project, experiment. The title reflects the wonderful all-inclusive multicultural aspects of music. Let me know what do you think! The name of my blog/podcast is Erik "Sonic" Schmidt's Tanoshii Musica Moments" and borrows terms from different languages. This is rooted in my belief that an appreciation of music is greatly increased by exploring international music cultures. Tanoshii(楽しい) means to enjoy or spend time pleasantly. The main character used in this adjective is also used in the word for music, ongaku(音楽), which supports my theory that enjoyment is an important aspect of music and half of the equation. Musica is the Spanish word for music. While the title might be slightly harder to pronounce or understand and perhaps a simpler title could have been used, exploring the international roots of these words is essential in the enjoyment of the internationally rich variety of music itself. Please check it out and provide feedback on either the Youtube or Myspace account. I will update it every few days. This blog entry reviews the following cds:

Death Cab For Cutie: "Narrow Stairs"
Keane: "Perfect Symmetry"
Jack's Mannequin: "The Glass Passenger"
