Just some thoughts on the thoughts about 4x08
I've seen quite a few people who are upset that Moffat seems to have blatantly ripped off pretty much every piece of popular science fiction known to man. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing here, I will hold my judgment until after next week but I do have an idea why he's done this. I think it might be on purpose. They are in a library. The little girl seems to be the 'heart' of the library...(and who wants to bet her name is Cal or that Cal is an abbreviation of her name?) Maybe she even IS the library. All the people are gone because of some catastrophe so she has to seek help herself and the only reference she has at her disposal are books. I'm of the thought that all the archaeologists, and the VN (I'm to lazy to look up the correct spelling) are creations of the Library, or Call or the little girl or all of the above. So it was the little girl who called for the Doctor's help, using Riversong as her 'conduit'. This would go a long way to explain all the SCIFI symbolism and especially the dialog....'Time Traveler's Wife'???? I have no idea if I'm right but it does make some sort of sense.
Of course there are plenty of wholes in my theory like why only Sci fi...why not comedy, or shakespeare or even non-fiction, which would make the most sense. I don't know, I could be talking out of my arse, I am hopped up on so much cold medicine that I feel like I'm floating. Ignoring the theory that Moffat is just an idiot and is having a right laugh at our expense, what are your ideas?
On a completely unrelated note...why is it so hard for Moffat to write convincing strong, independent women? And why, why, why does he have to take Donna, who already IS a strong, independent woman and relegate her to standing in the shadows (no pun intend....well ok, it was totally intended :P)...and being treated like nothing more than a fifth wheel by the Doctor? This leaves me very worried about the fate of series 5.
EDIT: Any and all wank that this post creates will be deleted immediately. It was NEVER my intention to start wank or offend anyone in anyway. I DO NOT hate Moffat. I simply have concerns that are mine and mine alone.
