I have been feeling the urge to write longhand, lately, so I hunted up my fountain pens and cleaned them out. I got some Higgins fountain pen ink at Wet Paint, and loaded them up.
I have two Sheaffer pens. The older one is a blue
Triumph Imperial with a brushed chrome cap and a fine nib. The other is a black lacquer
Targa with gold trim and a medium nib. I had forgotten what a joy they are to write with. I have been finding excuses to write things down on paper all day. :)
They both write beautifully. I think I like the fine nib on the Imperial a bit better. Unfortunately, it seems to be unwell. It keeps dropping large dollops of ink onto my paper every few minutes. This will not do. I cannot figure out why, so it looks like the nib may have simply had better days.
I will most likely replace it with another fine-nibbed fountain pen sometime in the near future.
Are any of you fountain pen enthusiasts? What do you use? What would you suggest for someone on a fairly snug budget?
ETA: It looks like I may have a problem with my converter. It seems to be leaking inside the pen. If the vacuum were incomplete in the bladder, that would probably cause it to flow too fast. I think I will try a cartridge and see if that helps. If it does, I can just get a new converter.
