Busy day!!
We (the Danmarks Int. Kollegium folks) met at 9:30 to take the train into Copenhagen this morning. However, something was wrong with the trains, and we wound up having to switch twice! (We were a half hour late for orientation, which wound up being a good thing, because Danes who speak English with thick accents are NOT speaking English!)
Then came lunch. I went out with two girls from Scripps College, one from Cornell, and a guy from Indiana. All of them live in my kollegium, which is good. Copenhagen is adorable! All of the streets are little and lined with stones. My one qualm: hard to find take out coffee! Akk!! What will I bring with me to class?! Anyways, we ate, and then went on a 2 1/2 hour bus/walking tour. We saw a church, the palace, the Little Mermaid status...We drove by Tivoli, (opens in mid-April and looks amazing,) and the Ripleys Believe it or not Museum. After, I picked up my textbooks from the DIS main building. I have more books than I've ever had! Large photocopied binders, hardcover dictionaries, etc. (I had a boy carry them home for me :P ....what? He offered!) We found a supermarket called Irma that sells tofu in a jar....quite strange, but I bought some nonetheless, (see? I had groceries to carry, too! Books AND groceries is an unmanageable task!) Because I am a flighty gal, I managed to forget my ID photos back at the kollegium, so I couldn't buy my train pass today. Alas, I can pick that up tomorrow. We got back to the kollegium, put our food away, and then turned right around to go to Fotox, a Walmart-esque, (but smaller) store where we got tupperware and towels and blankets.. Then, we got some dinner, and I came home and spent ages figuring out how to call Scotland the US on my phone card. Finally, it worked, but Justin's cellphone is a piece of sheeeet so it kept disconnecting me. He might come visit in a couple weeks provided we can find relatively inexpensive airfare!
Tomorrow looks just as busy, but I'm thinking I'm going to skip the optional brewery trip because I need to buy a cellphone and school supplies...
Bed time for meeeee
