1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
Moved to Michigan. Survived and thrived in Detroit and was fearless about it.
2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't remember my new year's resolutions. But I probably succeeded at some and failed miserably at others. I did learn a lot this year, though.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
People are popping out the babies left and right, but my friends and family are all sane.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thank God, no.
5. What countries did you visit?
Does Detroit count as a different country? I did go to Canada in August and had a run-in with the U.S. Border Patrol on the way back.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
Long-lasting love.
7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I'm bad at remembering specifics. But the end of February/early March. Yes, I will think fondly of that.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I proved to myself that I could make it on my own and do well at something I wanted to.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I don't know if I failed, per se. But I did lose something that meant a lot to me.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No, aside from the occasional sniffle. And falling off my bike on the drunken bike-ride back home from downtown Des Moines in the summer. But nothing serious.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I have no money. My plane ticket home for Christmas.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My friends' and family's.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
A certain person from my past. Shame, man. Just shame.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Damn U, also known as Des Moines University. And it's not even my money.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Finding love.
16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Taio Cruz, “Dynamite”
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier, probably
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner, but that's only because I have no time to eat anymore
c) richer or poorer? Poorer. Being a medical student means that you are digging a financial hole to China every year.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Reading.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Wasting time on frivolous things.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?

To go to Detroit.
29. What did you want and not get?
Things to work out the way I wanted them to. (Be careful what you wish for!)
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
I hate movies nowadays. I did love the documentary on the Russian Tsars that I got from Netflix, though.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Hung out in D-town with my sister, went to the casino. I was 26 years young.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Feeling settled and like I knew what was going on with my life.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Professional dress chic. As much as that's possible with a damn short white coat.
34. What kept you sane?
My cat. But I'm the crazy cat lady, so I guess that's a conundrum.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
David Poe. He is my fake husband, after all.

What political issues?

My family. Anne. I don't see enough of the people I love the most.
38. Who were the best new people you met?
My preceptors. My clinical coordinator here in MI! They all rock.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Mmmm whatcha say,
Mmm that you only meant well?
well of course you did
Mmmm whatcha say,
Mmmm that it's all for the best?
of course it is
Mmmm whatcha say?
Mmmm that it's just what we need
you decided this
whatcha say?
Mmmm what did she say?
ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut outs
speak no feeling no I don't believe you
you don't care a bit,
you don't care a bit
