School is out. Summer is here (and I have six days until teaching morning summer school sessions, but I rather need the extra income)...it was a stressful last day or two, mixing fun with crises. Got the student web projects up at the last minute after system crashes, and they were appreciated, got my room packed for summer two hours early because everyone was trying to go home quickly, my husband and some others at his job got salmonella food poisoning (he's better now...), and I managed to finish up all my grades a day early. Whew.
Now, it's a few weeks of work on the house, jewelry and writing projects, and music. Three separate projects with musicians I adore, including working toward the fall gig that's a mix of 12th century Latin chant and trad Irish songs that are almost as old, a Jean Ritchie tribute trio for a mountain duocimer festival, and a dance production for which my other group provides live singing for the dancers (songs in Hebrew, Ladino, and Arabic) alongside a world-class Moroccan instrumentalist and singer. Wow. And the joy of singing along with my 13 year-old daughter in the Irish choir - she's keeping up with the adults just fine, and we're all really proud of her. And she's taller than a different choir member every rehearsal this year, it seems... ;)
