Minor annoyances

So...

Tonight I get to go to dinner instead of class. That was the deal the professor of my Transportation class. Go to the ITE (Institue of Transportation Engineers) meeting and get to eat at one of the "best steakhouses in Hoboken" for $20, or write an article analysis in a couple of pages. Either way, there is no formal class because our professor is on the board of said professional organization. There's going to be a career fair before the dinner and cocktail hour, too. I guess I'll print our a few copies of my resume, just in case, but I don't really want to do transportation design...

"Best Steakhouse"... in Hoboken.... hmmmm... Still, the TDP guys swear by it, and I've been wanting to go since bobwaldo1 came back and bragged about how good it was... And eating there for $20 is apparently a bargain. But it means I need to socialize with people whose jobs I care nothing about, really... Good practice, I guess.

Oh, on top of that, my class (most of them are going to be there) is collectively a bunch of whiners. The professor told us to register before last friday, and the website says to RSVP by October 15th so they can prepare all of the food they would need. So, guess what? All of my classmates who tried to register over the weekend (ie, after the 15th) were told that the event was sold out. So, what did they do? They complained ot the professor that it was sold out so they couldn't register, and he made up a special list of their names so that they could go. I registered on Thursday, the 14th, and had no trouble at all... imagine that... BUt, you see, my class is special and little things like deadlines don't really mean things to them. Grrr...

Oh! and a coolness...This is the webpage dad sent me in an email for a whisky shop in Inveraray, Scotland (we had actually visited that shop while we were in Scotland), with their specific page of Edradour single malts!!! Edradour is currently my favorite distillery (smallest one in Scotland). The shop ships to the US!! That's the important part. It's expensive to do, and you can only get something like a bottle at a time because of customs requirements, but still... I was under the impression I was going to have to go all the way back to Scotland to get another bottle of their "Straight for the Cask"... But, it's getting too close to Christmas for me to buy anything for myself. So, I hinted loudly at dad as to which ones I would like to try, but otherwise, I will probably have to wait until next year to spend my money...

Oh, and my bank card was stolen the week before last Friday. I still haven't gotten the replacement.
