Five surprising things about J. K. Rowling:
1. Her last name is pronounced like the word 'rolling', and she will bite your head off if you pronounce it as Rawling or Rouling. Um. I've pronounced it as Rou-ling my entire life *gulp*.
2. She kicked off the 2000s by becoming the highest earning woman in Britain, taking home thirty million dollars at the end of the year. Wow. It's impossible not to look up to this woman.
3. She writes all her books by hand. This one really shocked me.
4. Gilderoy Lockhart is based on someone Rowling knew in real life. I wonder if he/she knows they inspired a Harry Potter character?
5. Rowling cries when she kills off a character. So do we. *Dobby flashback*
Today I'm going to play with a meme: name three of your weirdest secrets. My friends laughed hysterically when I told them this ('You seriously think you can restrain yourself to three?') but hey, THAT'S WHAT THE MEME SAYS :D
1. When it comes to conversations, I'm the human equivalent of a gramophone. Even if I'm meeting the person for the first time, I feel the urge to record their words if they say something interesting. Wordplay? A one liner? A spooky story? If there's a notebook lying around, I want to reach out and grab it. Dunno why I do this, but I'm guessing most people who like writing do. Some things are so memorable they just scream to be put down on paper.
2. As a kid, I named my pet goldfish Dopey and Loony and wrote letters to them. Every day. For six months. Yeah, I know.
3. I love buying pretty stationery for no reason. Floral notepads, colourful planners, calendars with animal themes...you name it, I have it and I'll keep buying it :D
