It feels wierd to have time to write here. I've been really busy for...a couple of weeks?
I sure love my kids. Last night, we went to the church halloween party. They had trunk or treating, and Poppet had a blast going to all the cars and saying "trick or treat!" She was dressed as a doctor, and Blue eyes was Superman. I didn't mind that he was one of about seven, because I came up with the idea over a year ago, before the movie came out.
The kids started to get cold just as we finished with all the cars, so we went in to where the refreshments were. I ran into our young elder preparing for a mission. I think I'll call him Elder Soon (as in he's leaving soon.) (It's wierd to have to come up with code names for everybody.) Anyway, we had arranged to have an interview before the party started, but I had arrived late, so that didn't happen. But we both had time and my kids were occupied, so we did the interview then. He reminds me a lot of myself at that age, bright, and having a great desire to do what's right, but not very aware of what's going on around him, and not having a great grasp of technical issues. He can't remember anything about his papers, or what he's supposed to do to get ready for his mission. All he can think about is -- work to save money to pay for it, and read his scriptures more because he doesn't do it enough. I talked to Bishop about him, and Bishop kind of rolled his eyes at the things he'd forgot. I said, "It's okay. He's a kindred spirit like that, and we get better." "Apparently," was the response. :)
Well, gotta go. Nothing is greater than being a dad, except being a mom, but that job wasn't open.
