Better than yesterday

Yesterday felt like it would last forever. It just about did, since I didn't get out of here until over an hour after I usually do. I got the prototype parts started, though, and that's the most important thing. I also got past one of the most dreaded hurdles this morning when I let Steve know that he's going to have to do the part finishing in addition to the painting. I was afraid he'd get mad, but he didn't. It was a relief.

Today is super slow. I've done some photography, but it was frustrating, since I couldn't get the exposure to turn out. In the end, I had to just use auto, which made me feel kind of dumb, but the picture looks pretty good. I'd like to try it again on an overcast day.

Bobby, one of our clients, came in today to pick up his prototype parts. He's in his sixties and owns his own company making exercise equipment. I told him what I had done since the last revision, and how the changes improved both the look and the function. He said, "You know, I wanna tell you, I've been really impressed with you, from the first time I laid eyes on you, your input and work has been really good." It made me feel good, though I don't know that his opinion will do me any good. Bobby isn't held in very high esteem around here, because he's a little excentric. (The last time he came to pick up parts, it was right after he'd gone for his jog, and he didn't have a shirt on - just a towel over his sholders. I have to admit, it wasn't pretty.) But he's a nice guy, and I think he appreciates people who play straight with him. I'm still young enough and ignorant enough that I don't have a backstage story playing in my head, so I just say what I think. He likes that.

I don't know what I'm going to do this afternoon. There isn't any billable work to do. I guess I'll just do Rhino tutorials. I at least have to be here, so I can get my time in.
