a couple of weeks ago we had a dinosaur-themed potluck because we were going to watch The Land Before Time but for some reason everyone was too tired/busy to dedicate 90 minutes to this activity, so it just wound up being an "eat tree-star shaped cucumber salad and volcano-shaped mashed potatoes" party.
today, we went to waterworld in colorado which was very refreshing since i haven't been to a waterpark in a long time and also never one with a toilet-bowl-style body slide. it looked like a baby version of the tube slide, but was definitely more extreme by far.
it seems that whatever new gimmicky ride that waterparks decide to build during a given year will attract the most visitors even if it's plainly a little underwhelming. this particular one was pretty slow but at least had a bunch of animated dinosaurs in it, including a pretty large t-rex at the end. the tunnel you come out of also seemed like it was the inside of a dinosaur's throat. fun stuff.
the modest mouse concert in a bank-sponsored convention center i went to this weekend was pretty damn good but felt a little distant...i recalled nine inch nails, which was the first concert i ever went to, where i was definitely standing up on the convention center seats pumping my fists to oblivion.
modest mouse really is kind of a "bitch of a band" (to quote
