seriously.
oh livejournal. it's been too long. but i'm going to do bullet points today because i am feeling that way.
- week two or three in colorado. time flies.
- went for a short walk with some friends today to the top of a "hill." by which i mean a rock-covered giant that would stand out like a mountain in the likes of wisconsin and her supreme flatness. there's some people who mountain-bike up rugged and dangerous-as-hell terrain pretty regularly here, it seems.
- looked for this (it stands for school of mines, is made of rocks and lights up at night) at the summit but failed.
- somehow, i got tangled up in yet another bioinformatics project at the lab. looks like my research life will never stop trying to deprive me of my eyesight.
- went whitewater rafting in fifty degree weather because our reservation happened to fall on the coldest day of the summer. fun times, i managed to save myself and the oar after falling out of the raft right before a class IV rapid. oh yeah, did i mention it was cold? we had a hard time telling if the showers were lukewarm or scalding hot after we were done.
- there's a very nice and cheap grocery store here called "king soopers." yeah i know.
- i got a card at the public library. and the music collection, unlike the one at home, has not yet been exhausted by me. maybe it's time for some more old-fashioned piracy. heh heh.
- i had my first video conference last week. it was an interesting experience...not quite authentic since our screen was about 11 inches. lots of giggles and awkward pauses and utterances of "can you see/hear me?"
- i love me some Dark Was the Night!
- we ate at a nepali restaurant called the sherpa house. the food was, i don't know, not as flavorful as i would have liked, though it could've been because we defaulted to the "white person" spice level without thinking ahead. the grilled yak was pretty delicious though.
- i stumbled across my old college admission essay which was actually quite amusing and interesting, and a first draft which was pretty tacky and terrible.
- and the truth is...i miss you.
- dammit, i've failed to go to sleep before midnight yet again.
- toy story 3 is coming out! the first one came out 15 years ago, since i think we were all around andy's age...that kind of blew my mind today.
- i've made way too many trips to goodwill. i now own a bunch of cheap clothes and dishes i probably can't bring back home and a "new" walkman! it's so old school.
- oh, and please.
...okay it really is time to peace out. i'm looking forward to seeing you all again. that one's to whoever's reading this. :)
EDIT: the recycle bin has been found! it was just impossible to locate at night and stupidly placed, but at least there is one.
