Yep, in honor of Earth Day, United Nations University has published my story about Guatemala. I'd love to write more, but it's been a crazy day and I'm exhausted. Suffice to say, the road to this article has been a very patient and moving one. So far, most everything I've written has been rejected with little or no feedback, and it's been disheartening; and to have the chance is both a feather in my cap and a dichotomy. I am both humbled and extolled at the same time.
More than that, I am thankful for anyone who reads this and is challenged to be a part of the patient work of conservation, development, and forming relationships with people who are different from us.
And I'm thankful for you guys.
