So far, work at Game Stop is fine. The only thing that annoys me about it now is that I only work two days a week. I know that is what I originally agreed upon for scheduling and that's ok, but because I'm only around for two days out of the week and then gone for up to 6 days sometimes, my retention of sales, release dates and policies is minimal. I do prove myself in other ways, however, like getting a sub now and again and always keeping the store in good shape. Maybe, if time allows, I'll be able to get some more days scheduled later on.
Speaking of Game Stop, Guitar Hero Rocks the 80s came out for PS2 last week. At a price of $50, I wasn't jumping to buy it, even though I reserved it. Because my boss is just so nice, he let me check out a copy for "my review". Since then, I've pretty much finished the game on Hard, with the exception of "Play With Me", some crazy riffy song that not even Kim has heard of, and am also about halfway through Expert. So far, it isn't worth my $50. 30 songs and a new paint job (though Pandora and Judy Nails look, like totally awesome) simply isn't enough to part me with my money. Granted, a lot of the songs are fun, but there are no new guitars, no buyable songs and only one buyable character, The Grim Ripper. To Beth and Kim's dismay, their favorite characters were not present. I suppose, in the 80s, black guys like Xavier were just nonexistent, or maybe that's what Red Octane is trying to tell us.
So a lot of my morning hours were spent playing Guitar Hero. Now, I'll sit patiently and wait for Guitar Hero III to come out, for that will undoubtedly be worth the $80 I pay for it (I get a new guitar).
Saturday was my friend Matt's Birthday, so he and his brother drove down from Oklahoma and we went to Medieval Times. That place is always fun, 'cept I don't recommend a visit more than twice a year. I have a feeling that if I went again within the year, I'd be sorely bored. I really feel for the actors who have to do the same show twice a night for a whole year (you'd think with all that practice, the acting would be better). After the show, we went to a place called Dick's Last Resort for some drinks. I had forgotten the place's reputation as having staff that are dicks (how appropriate) on purpose. I told our waitress that it was Matt's birthday and she told me she didn't give a shit. Of course, it was all ok when she came out and put a condom on his ear later on.
Sunday, Daniel told me he wanted to take me somewhere, but wouldn't tell me more than that. After some driving, we got to the Imax in Dallas, where we watched Harry Potter. The last 20 minutes of the movie were in 3D, which was beyond cool. After having finished the 7th book, I found a few small things in movie 5 which held a bit of significance. I won't say anymore than that, as I know that a few of my friends haven't finished the series yet.
Chicago is coming up fast and I am so ready. I'm looking forward to simply getting away.
