Independent Kosovo? Why not Vermont?
So asks an AP story on MSNBC. After Kosovo declared independence from Serbia today, the article ponders the legitimacy of other secessionist movements. Surprisingly, there is no mention of the Free State Project in New Hampshire, while they do mention a movement in Vermont, Scotland, the Basque region of Spain, a possible splitting of Belgium in two, and of course, Texas.
This is where I tout once again my hope that some Native American tribes/reservations will successfully secede from the USA and become real nations -- and my further hope that one of them will flourish as a sort of new Hong Kong, with minimal taxes, regulations, etc.
