more evidence that my faith in Michael Moore has not been misplaced
omigod! I just started watching this movie I Tivo'd from last night on Showtime - thinking oh shit another smartass Michael Moore documentary. But WOW - however clever he was in earlier works he is fucking AMAZING here - managing to be breezy, hip and mind-shatteringly profound ALL AT THE SAME TIME! This film is a perfect journey thru all the bits and pieces of American thinking about guns that will ring true for people of any age or race, but if you are a Boomer (especially 40-60 years old right now), this shit will BLOW YOU AWAY (heehee) because it touches every goddamn button related to guns that we grew up with. The fact that Michael himself is from Michigan, a state that loves guns, does not escape his ironic commentary at all. He's right there all the way showing us how this gun acceptance has influenced all of us "normal" people and sadly brought the more unbalanced among us to stupid irreparable violence.
And I have only seen the first 5 MINUTES! More later!
