Well, we survived and thrived through a delicious dinner and the resulting turkey coma, so all is well.
I spent Wednesday doing major cleaning in the kitchen and laundry room. My goal was to haul at least one bag of trash to the curb - mission accomplished! Actually could have hauled two, but left one for everyday trash as it wasn't completely full. Took a nap, and then hung out with the family for the evening.
Yesterday was supposed to be one bag of trash from the livingroom and hallway, but Molly monopolized the TV and I didn't feel like watching a 24 hour House marathon (despite the fact that I love the show). So I buried my nose in "New Moon", the second book in the Twighlight series. Definately a good read. We left the house around 3:15 to pick up Mom and head to Owego for dinner at the Treadway Inn. It was absolutely delicious ... they used the breast meat from the turkey (as opposed to the whole bird), but it was juicy and tender. There was also this fantastic butternut squash soup, potatoes (both mashed and sweet), cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, stuffing ... all the trimmings. When I finished a generous helping of that, I went back for more green beans, as well as orange roughy thermadore, and multiple helpings of prime rib. The meal came to an end with a big slice of chocolate mint cake.
We drove around Owego for a little bit looking at lights and showing Mark and Mom where Rae's babysitter lives. We headed back into town, dropped Mom off, and drove around for another hour or so, just getting lost. I don't think anyone wanted to go home, and Rae was having a good nap. But we got home eventually, Rae woke up, and we just hung out until Rae decided it was bedtime.
Today I'm hiding in my house until all the Parkway traffic calms down. While I'm here I'm going to get that bag of trash I was supposed to do yesterday in the livingroom done, and get the place ready for Christmas decorating. I need to get crix for the geckos, so I will have to venture out eventually. I can bribe myself into it by getting a nice big fat latte at the Cabin on my way. But not for a few hours yet ... the crazed shoppers are still out there. Sucks to live right by the major shopping area for our little city ... bleck!!!!
