right now i'm reading an old out of print book i got last year or the year before at an antique shop called The Swiss Legacy it's a mystery/suspense
From the inside cover: Their business in London was concluded, and Carolyn and David Bruce were looking forward to a short vacation before they returned to New York. Suddenly everything turned into a nightmare: the argument, the accident, David's death. A swerving taxi out of nowhere shattered Carolyn's world and left her dazed with grief. In an attempt to pull herself together, she sought peace on the quiet country estate of friends outside London. Instead, she was beset by disquiet and fear. Totally ignorant of David's business affairs, she found herself in the middle of a gradually unwinding plot that terrified her. Had David's death really been an accident, or could the legacy that he had left her cost her her life?
it's short (about 250 pages)..and i dont' want to start anything long right now since i'll be moving soon
i just finished reading this book called Apocalypse Culture which was neat..a collection of essays "ranging from the sexual liberation of necrophiliacs to strong cases against art and agriculture"
other books i've read this summer: Foxfire by Joyce Carol Oates Rape: a love story by Joyce Carol Oates Haunted: Tales of the grotesque by Joyce Carol Oates Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi Drawing Blood by Poppy Z Brite Murder in Central Park by Michael Jahn Tommy's Tale by Alan Cumming American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis
i also have a bunch of books that i own that i want to read: Lost Souls by Poppy Z Brite The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson Lady Chatterley's Lover by DH Lawrence The Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe Hall
and i want to get Bret Easton Ellis' new book Lunar Park
American Psycho is fucking awesome. I read Liquor by Poppy Z. Brite...a relatively new one. It was a bit weak, though I know she's written some good stuff.
Ugh! I've been really lagging this summer. I've only read four novels. I've mostly been reading a lot of poetry collections.
yeah that's how i was last summer so i wanted to make sure i read what i wanted to read this summer
american psycho IS awesome
i haven't read liquor..i hear it's pretty different from the rest of her stuff
the first book of hers i read was Exquisite Corpse...which is also a bit different from the rest of her stuff but really really good it's about a cannibal serial killer.... it's based loosely on jeffrey dahmer. i couldn't put it down...i read that a couple of years ago..it's very descriptive and written from the perspective of the killer..i think
