The Dark Tower

I never much cared for the Western genre. In fact I was averse to it. Oklahoma born and bred, sure, but I was never proud of where I came from. Firefly was the first thing that actually warmed me up to that style, and then only barely. The Chinese mix softened it quite a bit, as did the science fiction aspect, of course.

Roland's story, though... it's fantastical and full of intriguing science fiction, yes, but also heavily ladened with that Western "charm" that never did charm me, yet here I find myself seduced by it for the first time. I actually have an urge to look for other decent Western-style stories with that same feel. To be honest, I'm rather shocked.

Likewise, I never expected to enjoy the work of Stephen King.
