a salsa red roller coaster ride
Well, I got the loan and I am now the proud owner of a 2009 VW TDI Jetta SportWagen in salsa red. It's a sweet and zippy little beast; I'm over the moon about it and given to random squeals of excitement, and my joy is tempered by the sobering fact that I now have to pay for this thing...with what money??
It's true that I have savings enough to cover the loan amount, but I sure would rather not deplete that, especially given these tough economic times. I *like* having a deep fluffy cushion to fall back on. My current income, such as it is, is enough to cover monthly expenses and car payments, but with little to nothing left over.
2008 has been my "Year of Hemorraghing Money" (on purpose - I'll probably cover that in another post) and this car tops the list. So far, I have seen that I can continue to be a cash conduit with no ill effects...but man, do I feel stretched now! My barrel is coming close to the scraping point, or so it seems. It may be an illusion, but it sure seems like I'd better not take on any more expenses (including new contact lenses, which I really need, or my upcoming trip to the dentist).
