i'm a big kid now

baby-sitting for little kids made me realize how fucked up our society is. this six year old was telling me all about the mating rituals of different animals like lightning bugs and peacocks and ducks (how she knew all this i'm not sure...prolly animal planet). and there seemed to be this pattern of focus on male appearance. the male lightning bugs light up to attract the female ones who don't (this info is coming from a six year old and i know jack shit about lightning bugs but it sounds good), the male ducks are all hot looking to impress the female, and same with the peacocks. so what i wanna know is, why the hell do we have it backwards?

another 6 year old insight that i find hilarious but she looked as serious as if we were talking about politics:
"when i grow up i'm gonna be a mommy and have kids. but i dont have to wear a bra because my breasts aren't jiggly but some people's are so they have to wear one to hold them in and keep them from moving around everywhere".

jesus she's six.
