well... goofus hasn't told us to do anything. goofus just told us that gallant is wrong, so we shouldn't do anything goofus tells us to DO.

It's a dumb version of one, yes. Highlights is a kids' Christian magazine. It has these comics that tell you how to behave. Gallant always does the right thing and Goofus always does the wrong thing. It's like the "one always lies and one always tells the truth" thing except that it doesn't even make sense this time unless you assume that Goofus is a liar (which he is, generally speaking). Don't blame the magazine for this. I made it up myself.
