Verona Speaks.

Today marks the beginning: another six months of toiling with papers and profs. It's another chance to achieve.

To celebrate this kickoff, I armed myself with enough bitchy mode. I needed this since today's agenda included softbinding the magazine (ORACLE magazine, a requirement that's been one and a half year overdue.) The first purpose would embrace a transaction with a personnel at QUICK PRINT SERVICES (P. Noval) with a little attitude, that is, as far as my first impression is concerned. He's not that bad, it's just that it's a matter of exchanging more than 3 thousand bucks in exchange for service rendered. Now isn't the time to be a spendthrift who wastes thousands in cash simply since a magazine wasn't printed right. I had to get what I want--more like need, since my grades depended on it. And I could only get this by "putting up a good fight." So there I was: making sense and shrewd enough to assert that I needed the mag printed by tomorrow lunch, that It had to be softbound, i.e., that my 3 gran won't be a waste. So I gave the instructions without being distracted by jokes (it looked like Dennis didn't have the mood to crack some though), got their contact number, gave mine in case there were problems, and I flew out of the shop, satisfied with that little bitch inside of me which hopefully saved my money. Not to mention, my INC.

Another purpose that my malevolence would serve was CLASS OPENING. You never know who's tactless and offensive that may impede the way of a nice start for the second semester. I've learned my lesson when I failed short at defending myself from da Vinci, who, in a previous semestral opening, kept spanking me out of fun, not to mention, pestered me with some politically incorrect namecalling ("BADING!"). From that point forward I decided never to allow myself to indulge that kind of harassment. Hence, I wouldn't be lenient now. So da Vince... don't you dare! Turned out, it was a fine reunion with my classmates. In fact, more than fine it was fun! The prof hadn't arrived so I giggled the hours away with my friends Cecille, Sheri, and Ana. I wouldn't forget Cez's question of the day that she asked as we were walking along the sidewalk/in public. It was the momentous inquiry that will stand the test of time: "Ana palda ko ba 'yan?"

But just because I had fun doesn't mean I have to be nice all day long. That bitch inside me's still waiting. It's hidden but prepared to save me.

So FAculty of ARts and Letters, University of Santo Tomas... I'm back!
