The Plight of the Gay Guy?

People could make so much sense. But lately, I can't help the annoyance actuated by people who stop making sense. Maybe it's a case of word vomit: people say things but truth is they don't have a clue. At one point he asserts something; next thing you know, he's contradicting it.

Consider this. When a gay guy tries to "convert" to straighthood, Beth spoils the conversion, "for real... you're gay right?" And when the gay guy finally comes out, Beth suddenly insists, "Just be straight, will you?" I can't help but wander, is it me or you're just homophobic?

Beth may be joking, but jokes could mean so much more than good time. Psychoanalysts think jokes lead to the subconscious, where what you might be really thinking is secretly kept in store. For this reason, Beth joking around could mean one thing: that she doesn't what "us" around. From bullies in gradeschool to office homophobia, jocularity--sugarcoated with a lame excuse called fun, but politically incorrect underneath--is the modern persecutions the queer unfortunate faces today. For jokes could mean anything other than good intentions.

It's surprising that people have died just for us to be accepted, but till now we put up with the same mockery from a patriarchal mind. We think we're accepted, but the situations are evidence to the contrary. Maybe we're accepted coz we're the beauticians who make the straight guy look good. Maybe we're just accepted coz despite our alleged superficiality there can be some use for us. Maybe we never really know that we're accepted, since people's idea of acceptance is still shimmered with jokes that don't accept us.

Perhaps the closest we could get to real acceptance would be like humor itself, fun and sugarcoated, but other than good intentions, it could mean anything else-like mockery. Come to think of it, I belong to a society that does not accept in the kind sense of the word. It is a tolerant society. Therefore, I'm not accepted. I'm just tolerated. (sigh)
