I am a strong believer that there are certain times in life when you have to be selfish. Looking out for number one is incredible important and I think a lot of people discount it. I know what it means to have priorities. I understand that sometimes you have to put yourself before others …. But all that being said I have learned a valuable lesson this weekend.
As much as looking out for yourself is important so is looking out for the happiness of others… Sometimes you have to put your head between your legs, swallow your pride and do something for someone else. Life is a balance of these two extremes.
I used to be a person who was always doing everything for everyone else and I learned the importance of doing things for me and I loved it so much that I advocated it to everyone but I am starting to see that some people take this idea too far. Planning this party has revealed a side of my family that I knew of but had never really seen. I am SOOOO disappointed. My grandmother is turning 80, it only happens once and grandma has few special moments in her life, this was to be one of them. If people are choosing their own selfish reasons over making grandma happy … I am sorry, but I really don’t think I will ever be able to fully get over that.
