"Do you think me pathetic?"
"Pathetic? No. Far from it."
Apause; warm lips finding themselves against my cheek.
"You're a woman in love," a rustle, followed by light footsteps.
"A woman in-"
"A woman madly in love with a shadow from your past."
Somewhere in the far recesses of my mind, a soft click registers as wobbly knees connects with the plush carpet - a silent thud breaking the silence.
And I weep.
Not for the words that spoke true and loud. But for the shell of a woman I once was.
