Ryan contracted HFMD today (as assessed by the doctor). The thing is, we have to cancel our trip to Hong Kong scheduled to leave this Sunday (5 - 11 Aug)!
Our CX tix are already paid for and collected, the hotels are already booked! ( Read more... )

Poor Ryan. Maybe cool or icy drinks and foods might help his throat.

So sorry to hear that Ryan got the HFMD. The only thing u could do is give him more water, u can try ice water so it wont hurt his throat. After a few days, he would be back on his feet again. Hope he gets well soon.

My boys cought it n were given 2 weeks mc. Nevertheless, they were still active despite the HFMD.

We thought it's mild coz no symptoms on his hands and feet. But I think the ulcers inside his throat is really painful, and now the rashes also developed on the feet, makes it painful for him to walk. No choice, will have to ride it out!

ya.. we only cave in with the antibx when he keeps screaming in pain for his throat. Coz no other medicine besides the fever meds. But thanks to Jenice, managed to get a bottle of Calendula cplx and fed him some last nite, ts morning he feels much better. Still have a few days to ride it out.

Since it's medical grounds as long as you provide an MC and letter from the Dr you should be able to postpone everything without penalty. Check with the travel agent and airline, insurance? That's what happened last year with our Osaka trip when Alex was hospitalised with Pneumonia. Hope this helps!

Thanks and yes, my hub checked with airline and with Dr's letter, we managed to postpone the trip but still need to pay penalty $75 for 1 tix instead of 3 when we checked with the agent. Their logic? Only 1 adult to accompany the sick child. We didn't want to argue probly coz ours are restricted tix I suppose ..

Quick get Calendular from Vitakids!

Nicole contracted HFMD 1-2 years back and I administered Calendular (recommended by some mommies) to her, after 1.5 days her ulcers were cured but the spots on the hands and feet were there so we stayed at home. The main discomfort should be in the mouth, if that's taken care of, Ryan should be fine.

Hope he has a speedy recovery!

Thanks for your tip and sharing! Yes indeed we fed him some last nite (thanks to Jenice who's passed me her new bottle) and ts morning he didn't feel pain in the throat, and yes, the spots on feet are still giving him pain (when he walks) .. will have to ride it out over the next few days.
