yesterday was devoted to photography. i wandered through nay aug park trying to find people to take snapshots of. the walk was dismal yet nostalgic.
as i walked along the path, illusions of times past kept popping up. school field trips to the everheart museum, the carnival next to the hospital, swimming in the public pool while my cousin steve was a lifeguard, my uncle andy holding me on a cliff at the gorge waterfalls, exploring the abandoned bear den with my dad, driving through to see the christmas lights, abe making faces at the monkeys in the zoo, the jazz festival with ashley and chris. it's one of those places that holds so many memories that i never really acknowledged. my emotions kept changing frome place to place.
i only found one person at the park, he was more than willing to be photographed...with his dogs. he was posed before i even asked him =)
after that i went to the jewish deli to see my old friend giari. he was so surprised to see me, it made me smile. he, too was eager to be photographed. he talked a lot about cameras, he used to sell them in atlantic city. i left with some great shots and a free sandwich.
the rest of the evening was spent in the darkroom. hoo-ray. i'm at ease when i'm developing photos, being in the dark calms me down. i was so worried about all the work i had to do, but somehow it got done.
eveything is allright.
