Such a wonderful day!
Today I started Field Experience for this semester. I'm at Roosevelt High School on T and R from 8:15-10:15. I LOVE IT ALREADY! I'm in a Social Studies room in a first period that only has 8 kids. They've only been speaking English for either 1-2 or 3-4 years, so they need a bit more help than others. I just jumped right in there today and started working with them. You don't know how good I felt walking out of that school knowing that I was able to help them!!! It was an amazing feeling. Despite how early it is, I really can't wait to go back again next year. Being there today really makes me want to pick up Spanish again, 'cause I'm realizing how important it is.
I think I had a lot of misconceptions about Portland Public School District, and I'm realizing that it's not as bad as people make it out to be.
I'm going to the Pat Buchanan debate on the 22nd of this month. That should be interesting. Maybe I can get a picture with him, haha. My super conservative cousin Mike is making me go. He thinks it will forever change the way I think. He claims that his new goal in life is to make me think the way he does.
Anyway, I've been up since 6, and I'm exhausted! I'm gonna go to sleep now :)
