KRIPKE, I COULD KILL YOU!

May 13, 2007 00:38

The Week 31 Friday Five:

1. Which character(s) did you start off disliking/not caring about, but now like/care about?
Season 2? Well I started off disliking the roadhouse characters except for Ash who I didn’t care about and I continue to dislike them except Ash who I was sad to see die. Overall, I didn’t care about Daddy at start, he wasn’t on my radar but I cried when I saw him die. And I still hate them for it. Same dealio with Meg. Loved her in the end.

2. If you had a choice, would you rather visit the Roadhouse or the Winchesters' old house in Lawrence?
Definitely the Winchester house. Not a drinker and don’t like them. Also, who cares about a bar full of hunters? Now, Sam & Dean’s childhood home; that I’d like to see.

3. When your real-life family/friends/acquaintances ask you about Supernatural, how do you act and how to you treat the show/refer to the show?
Nobody asks! It’s sad! But if a couple of friends who know I’m nuts about it ask, I keep gushing about it.

4. Do you like the flashback opening sequence or would you prefer Supernatural have opening credits like shows such as One Tree Hill and The X-Files?
Nah, I prefer it the flashback way. It’s nice and unique.

5. What are things that you have to do/have before Supernatural comes on?
Wake up and brush my teeth. Really. That’s all. I download at night. So first thing in the morning is I start up my computer, go to brush and then eat breakfast while watching it.

REVIEW FOR 2.21 ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE - PART ONE

I HATE YOU, KRIPKE!!! Seriously.

How could he do that? How could he kill Sam? Of course, he's not dead! He isn't, is he? I don't trust that man. He's plain evil. Poor Dean!

Okay now that I got that off my chest, more about the episode. It was brilliant. Bloody brilliant! Okay exaggeration. The last ten minutes were the awesomest ever. Otherwise it was just plain great.

Very solid performances. By everyone. I, especially, liked Ava. Damn, this is all so random. I'm gonna start from the beginning.

Heh, I loved how Dean said pie. Cute! And the whole extra onions bit, very cute! Bad Dean torturing poor Sammie. I loved how they showed that he just took his eyes off Sam for a sec and he was gone. Well done.

They killed Ash! I can't believe they did that. That was just so sad. He was the one character they introduced in season two that I didn't hate. And they killed him. Bastards!

Dean having a vision. That’s so cool. He doesn't know it was Andy sending him flashes, so it's like getting his own superpower. This c’mon, would be awesome! Yep, my dictionary today seems to be limited to awesome, great and brilliant.

I loved Ava in this episode. You'd never guess there was anything wrong with her. She was completely natural, just like we'd seen her last. But she had changed by eons. Her performance completely amazed me. From how she went from confused and innocent to completely evil in the matter of seconds to back & forth was remarkable!

Andy was exactly like we had known him. I didn’t like the two knew characters. Maybe since they were new and we didn’t really get to explore them. But I thought Lily looked quite haunted which was good since killing somebody with a touch of hand probably wasn’t very easy to face. I think Jake was the worst of the lot. No, not because he stabbed Sam. But he seemed very wooden. Not much by way of facial expressions. Besides, he’s supposed to be a part of the army and it is hard to believe that someone who has faced the war in Afghanistan can be so easily swayed by the demon. It shows weakness in character which should have been there.

Jared did a swell job in this episode. For one who has never been able to accept his destiny, he managed the whole situation very well. Although I wish he had felt a bit more betrayed when he realized that Ava wasn’t the same anymore. Or a bit more pained to see Andy dead. They rendered the characters completely meaningless. Well not completely, but you know what I mean. Ultimately, they weren’t important. I wish Andy would have put more of a fight or they had delved more into Ava’s time there.

I didn’t really see the sense of having Booby around. Don’t get me wrong, I like the character but they’ve been too dependent on him this season. Like last season, it was just the two of them; they needed no one but themselves. But this season, they’ve been looking for help from Bobby, Ash, Jo, Ellen & the Roadhouse at every turn. I know they need more characters and just the boys would get too monotonous and taxing on the actors, but they had none last season and introduced so many in this one.

Instead they should have repeated some of season one’s loved characters. Like Missouri Mosley. Or Meg. Oh, I know they had the Meg angle but man; Meg was so kick-ass. I loved Meg last season, well after Shadows anyway. She was used at timely intervals and she was a great villain. I agree with Kim Manners, they shouldn’t have killed her.

I loved Dean in this episode. He played the protective big brother to perfection. But the last five minutes were the best. That was a very emotional moment and he pulled it off in an astounding manner. For someone who stayed away from the touchy-feely, emotional crap, he portrayed his pain very well. It was so beautiful. The whole, “It’s going to be alright. I’m gonna take care of you. It’s my job to watch out for you.” Was so heart wrenching. And the hug was so beautiful. Although, so totally doesn’t count when one of you is all limp & dying. But it was so… *sigh*

And from the promo it seems the new episode is going to be all Dean and all powerful. That promo was just mind-blowing. Dean like we’ve never seen hi before. Oh wait, we saw crazy mad Dean last season when Dad was kidnapped. But this time around, Sam is dead and it’s the end of the world. Crazy mad ain’t gonna cover it. Although I’m definitely gonna go crazy mad waiting for it.

Also, I missed Daddy Winchester sorely. I was sure he had a contract for four episodes this season but so for, we’ve seen him in only one and of course, we shall see him in the next one. That was another mistake; to kill him off. Okay, I get it. They couldn’t show the missing angle again without it getting repetitive. But it has killed off great potential for that character. I mean he can’t keep coming back from the dead every season. So obviously, Thursday will be his last episode.

On the other hand, they have increased the potential for another character, namely Mary. That bit in the past gave us a whole new insight to Mary. How did she know the demon? What had really happened that night? Had Mary anything to do with Sam’s powers? Was she not all innocent as we imagined? I imagine these questions are all going to be left unanswered; maybe for the next season.

There are many questions of the last season that still haven’t been answered. Like the significance of Dean’s necklace. Or the bleeding of his eyes in Bloody Mary. Kripke did say that there was some importance behind it. Now we’ve got to add how Mary knows the demon. Or if Dean actually has some powers of his own? And what about the other generations? Is there any one of those left living? We can’t forget that we still have the FBI running after the boys. And we still have one more episode to go. It has shaped up to be one hell of a season and I can’t wait for next week, whereas as waiting for September is going to be very painful.
