Kennet sighed, pulling up a seat beside Sammy's highchair and giving the infant a small, exasperated smile.

"Well," he said, voice gruff with the morning-rise. "Maybe you'll be an artist."

Sammy giggled and mashed his chubby little fingers into the beans before lifting the hand to his face and smearing his cheek with orange sauce.

"Moira?" Kennet called, watching his son with tired amusement. The response was a gentle 'hmm?' from the next room. "You fix Sammy's breakfast?"

"I gave him some beans, Ken."

He chuckled and looked back at the mess on the highchair's tray. The bowl was on the floor, and God only knew where the spoon had run off to. "A puddle of beans does not a breakfast make," he sighed, looking around for an alternative. He stood up and stretched, rubbing the coarse scruff under his chin. "Wait here, little man.... Dada'll be right back."
