Character Sheet
I've been working on this one, on and off, for a few weeks now. I want to start exploring some of my characters a bit more, get a better feel for them, inside and out.
So... here is Raoul.
I know a certain couple of people who will be happy about this one. >;P
Raoul Archard by yaochia

Raoul Archard

38
3. Gender
Male
4. Nationality, race or other “group” affiliation
Cascadian. An American/European ancestry.
5. Where and when they live
Los Angeles, Cascadia
6. Mother (describe, plus current whereabouts, circumstances)
Theresa Archard (previously Theresa Clark). She’s about 5’5”, currently in her mid 70s, grey hair that was originally dark blonde, green eyes.
7. Father (describe, plus current whereabouts, circumstances)
Richard Archard. 6’, late 70s, balding grey hair that was originally a lot thicker and medium brown, brown eyes.
His father was a police officer before retiring at the age of 65.
Both of Raoul’s parents live comfortably out in the country, on a big plot of land. Raoul goes to visit them every few months and calls them several times a week.
8. Siblings (describe each, plus their current whereabouts, circumstances)
None
9. Hair
Light brown with grey/silver flecks, shaggy and slightly unkempt.
10. Eyes
Aqua.
11. Height
6’2”
12. Weight
170lbs
13. Body type (i.e., thick boned, rail thin, stocky, soft, wiry)
Thick-set and muscular. Broad shoulders and well defined body, with visible hip grooves.
14. Dress
Casual outfit would generally be jeans and a t-shirt, or long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves pulled up to his elbows. Heavy, leather boots.
His work uniform is fairly casual when he’s in the office, but a bit more Leon Kennedy when out on a job.
15. Physical or mental strengths
He’s physically fit and strong. He trains daily and has the body to show for it. He has good endurance and stamina. He is trained in various martial arts, including Krav Maga, Bojuka and Bok Fu. He’s also proficient in the use of various weapons, though guns (specifically, his two semi-automatic Ruger SR9s) are his speciality.
Mentally, he’s pretty average. He’s learned the importance of patience and keeping an open mind in this line of work, but he’s hardly a shaman. He’s a pretty good strategist, but that’s not necessarily his strongest point. He’s really more ‘brawn’ then ‘brain’ when it comes to his work.
16. Physical or mental limitations
Being a big, heavy kinda guy, he’s maybe not as quick or limber at some slightly smaller colleagues and/or enemies. And the saying “the bigger they are, the harder they fall” definitely means something.
As said above, he’s more brawn than brain. Not that he’s stupid - he’s not - and he’s definitely had to think-fast in certain situations in the past. But he’s certainly not a long-term game planner.
He also has a bit of a weakness for pretty ladies. It’s got him in trouble a few times in the past.
17. Place(s) where he/she live(d)
He’s always lived in Cascadia, through he’s lived in a couple of different cities within the country. He moved to LA with his parents when he was 17 and has lived there ever since.
18. Favorite activity
When he’s off duty he’s a fairly lazy, laid-back kinda guy. He’s perfectly happy kicking back in his apartment, drinking a beer and watching a game. Though he’s also partial to heading down to the bar with some friends and playing a couple games of pool.
And failing that, he has a lot of fun playing with his dog, Rufus.
19. Best friend
Aside from Rufus? He doesn’t have a huge amount of friends outside of work. Work has pretty much become his life at this point. He’s very close to Magellan and Leigha, however. He enjoys their company and it’s usually one or both of them he calls up when he wants to go to a bar.
20. Worst enemy
He doesn’t really have any specific personal enemies. His enemies are just whoever The Company are working and fighting against. It is part of his job not to get too personally involved with any individuals from opposing/enemy companies.
21. A wish or dream
His parents own several acres out where they live and their dream is to turn it into a mini farm. Grow crops and fruit, have a few chickens and goats and pigs. They have a lot of work to do on it yet, and Raoul’s big wish is to make sure it gets done for them before they die. He goes out to help them when he can, and pays for gardeners/landscapers when he can’t.
22. One thing that makes your character laugh
Banter, affectionately trolling people he cares about
23. A fear
A colleague dying because he couldn’t do enough to save them, or his ineptitude leading to the death or injury or a colleague or loved one.
24. Something they’d like to learn
He’s always interested in all the new gadgets and gizmos his company produces. He likes being in the know about all of them, even if he doesn’t have to use them personally. Just in case. He owns a guitar which he can strum a few chords on, and there’s some idle part of him that wishes he could play better. He’s far too lazy in his free time to actually pursue that, however.
25. Something they’d like to forget
Quite a few drunken nights out he’d rather forget, but nothing major.
26. Something they’d never do
Betray a friend or loved one. Betray his company. Willingly let a friend or colleague die. Become a vegetarian.
27. A secret
He thinks about what it would be like to be a family man sometimes. To have a life-long partner and a daughter. He considers that to be a pipe dream though, and has pretty much resigned himself to the life of a bachelor. Not that it’s too bad.
28. Does your character have a love interest?
Not currently. His relationships don’t tend to last very long. He says he’s “married to his work”, but really he just has a problem with commitment. It would take someone pretty special to tie him down.
29. Does your character have a pet?
A golden German Shepherd named Rufus.
30. Does your character have a quirky habit?
He chews toothpicks. He always carries a pack of toothpicks with him whenever he’s not on duty.
