Character Name: Blythe Merrick
Age: 23
How long They've Been in the Deck: Four years.
Character's Current Rank: Ten of Hearts
Face Rank Applying For: Ace
Personality: Blythe is a hard-working girl with a sweet, approachable demeanor. With a high value on work ethic and getting things done, she’s highly efficient, and takes pride in that. She's highly intelligent, with a very analytical mind. She's also very well-spoken when it comes to being formal. When informal, she might flounder a bit, but it's generally more endearing and genuine than awkward. Though it can be easy at times to knock her off balance, she always tries her best to make the most of any situation. She places a high value on her friendship, and puts effort into maintaining relationships, even with her acquaintances.
Her mental status is returning to stable after her low period in the spring of this year. She’s still quite insecure, but she’s trying to overcome this through optimism. While she understands that life isn't perpetually sunshine and daisies, she does believe that she's able to find and hold onto her own happiness. Blythe is typically much more easily upset than angered, and she isn't the type to hold a grudge. She keeps an open mind and allows her views of people to be changed. She does have a naive nature, with her tendency to trust others too much. Her lack of artifice is one of her most striking personality traits, and though she can be frank at times with people she's close to, she's always kind.
History:
Here. Character's Goals/Ambitions: Over the past few years, Blythe's ambitions have changed from being centered around her to being centered around her Suit. As a Ten, she's constantly concerned about the Suit's image and the well-being of her fellow Hearts. The Hearts are strong, she believes, despite their lack of physical challenges or the gentleness.
In the past few months, though, they've hardly shown a strong front to the rest of the Suits. Ceiro, at least, couldn't help growing weaker by the day, and he tried to persist in fulfilling his role as King. But Blythe feels that both Judith and Athena have become too removed from their roles for different reasons; Judith's son and Athena's personal life seem to have been prioritized. Of course, she understands that there's a good reason for this - but as Faces, they owe it to their Suit to fulfill their roles to the best of their ability.
Which is why Blythe hopes to change the Suit's current image. She already approves of Jordan's changes to the security in the Hearts, to present themselves as a stronger, unified group. But more can definitely be done. While she doesn't specifically want to become a Face, she wants to make an impact - and maybe becoming a Face Card is the only way to do that.
Why should they be chosen for this position? Blythe has an impeccable work ethic, a strong passion for the people in her Suit, a close relationship with the Queen, and a genuine desire to strengthen the Hearts. As Head of HR, she works closely with many of the other departments in the Suit, leading her to interact with new people every day. She has a tendency to want to bring out the best in people and to help them achieve their full potential. She adores the people in her Suit and wants to see them flourish. Additionally, Blythe has been very supportive of her Face Cards during her time as Ten. She has a close friendship with Judith, Ceiro, and Wren, and she's looking forward to getting to know Athena better. Whenever there have been gaps or unassigned Face Card positions, Blythe has been quick to shoulder the extra work. Finally, she makes most of her decisions based on what would be best for the Suit, and always has the image of the Hearts in mind when interacting with other people, especially higher numbers and Faces Cards. All in all, she's a prime candidate for the position, given her efficiency, drive, and friendliness.
