I'm serious. I do. For the first time since Curtis...I love going to work. Hannafords (and my brief stint at Overbrook Scientific) were like, being dragged down into Hell. And out of the blue...like a total God-send...came this job.
For those who don't know, I am now the Textbook manager of the Curry College bookstore. Basically, I keep the inventory, do the ordering, and send back the overstock, of all the textbooks for the school. I'm not just an assistant manager...i'm higher than an assistant manager in the scheme of things. I perform store manager functions when my manager Sara isnt there, like opening and closing the store, maintaining the money, stuff like that. It's a small store, so there's only 3 full timers, myself, Sara, and Chris, our shipper/reciever. we have 2 college girls, Kristin and Jane, that are cashiers...and that's about it.
Sara, my boss, is simply amazing. She and I hit it off from the minute I interviewed with her, and we've quickly become good friends. She's the kind of person I always imagined working for, someone who appreciates me and my talents, who trusts me to do things on my own, isnt constantly checking up on me, looking over my shoulder or anything like that. She's 27 and lives in Quincy, and is just the coolest boss I've ever had. I can't even begin to describe the amount of time I spend laughing at work because of the stupid things we talk about. We're very much alike, in how we deal with our employees, our customers, our work...we like the same movies, the same stupid fads (we've spent the past few days talking about Zubaz, the zebra-print pants of the 80's) and are both pretty acidic and angry when you get down to it. I'm really lucky to work with her.
Chris, our other fulltimer, is also pretty freakin cool. He's got a wife and a kid, but he's 26 and...its just so refreshing to be in a workplace where youth is king. Chris and I get along really well, because we're both big sports fans and just mesh together. He's just pumped that there's another guy working in the store, haha.
I'm happy folks. I love going to work in the morning. I dont have to work weekends. I dont have to work nights. I get to wear khakis and collared shirts to work. Casual fridays. I have the responisibility I craved...it's amazing.
That's all. I'll stop gushing now.
