I successfully used the heimlich maneuver on Friday past to help a woman who was choking. Not at the hospital or the nursing home - at a restaurant. Ashlee and I were having lunch together with Sydney. It took a moment to realize just what was going on. There was little commotion or chaos. A waitress noticed first, but was too small to get her arms around the woman. By the time I processed what was happening, I was already there and taking over. Three thrusts and out came the barely chewed piece of meat. Afterwards, several employees stopped by our booth to say thank you. Then, the woman came over and thanked me as well.

It still doesn't really feel like it happened.
