Other Characters Played: This is my first character!
Character: Naminé.
Series/Fandom: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories/ Kingdom Hearts II.
Original or Template version: Original, post KHII.
Age: She appears, and is mentally fourteen-fifteen years old; in reality she's only about a year or so.
Gender: Female.
Species: Nobody, a being without a heart.
Sexuality: She hasn't really thought too hard on it.
Appearance: Naminé is a very small, delicate looking girl. She is rather thin-- perhaps due to stress-- and has very blonde hair that falls just a little above mid-back; it's usually tossed over a shoulder. She's also rather pale, this probably because of how she was stowed away in Castle Oblivion for so long; artificial light doesn't really give anyone a healthy glow. Her eyes are large, framed by long eyelashes and are a deep blue in color. As for her attire? She's usually wandering around in a simple white dress and little sandals.
Personality: Sweet, kind and generous, it could be said that Naminé hasn't a mean bone in her body-- and while she holds a genuine dislike for 'certain people', it's not likely she'll ever be more than wary of others. She trusts easily, however-- if you say you'll do something for her, or say you're her friend, she'll hold you to it. But if she's backstabbed, it might take a little while to get that trust back fully. That said, she is generally very forgiving and can't bring herself to hold grudges for very long. On top of that, she is very patient and polite-- rather level-headed, most of the time, although emotion does overcome her sometimes. Naminé is merely a young girl, after all.
Despite most of her traits, Naminé isn't the near-saintly entity she might appear to be. She messes up. She makes mistakes easily, but tries to learn from them. Naminé is a fearful girl with a lot of regrets but at the same time, a lot of courage-- she'll overcome her fear, her hesitance, just about anything to help out those she cares about. She is determined to put her past mistakes behind her. To move on from and make up for them is her ideal, and she hopes that she's done just that.
As well as the above, Naminé is very quiet, and generally speaks in a small voice-- she isn't any sort of busybody, and is generally always with her sketchpad and a pencil. She is an artist, and by extension rather creative-- she's got a vivid imagination that sometimes works against her, sometimes works for her. There is also her eye for detail, and although she is supposed to lack a heart, Naminé is very sympathetic and seems to nearly be able to sense when someone is upset.
Abilities/Strengths: Ability-wise, Naminé's don't lay in combat as most sane Nobodies do. Instead, she can manipulate memories-- in particular, those of Sora and any close to him. She can draw, too-- as crude as some of her drawings can be, she can produce some pretty artwork.
Weaknesses: Naminé isn't physically strong. She also isn't very good enduring physical things-- as in, she can't keep up a run for too long without becoming worn out. She also tends to mess up, despite good intentions, and sometimes fails to stick up for herself. On top of that, Naminé can tend to let things bother her too much. Her near-dependence on her sketchpad and crayons could also be considered a weakness, as well-- without them around, she doesn't know what to do with herself.
History: Naminé was born when Sora released Kairi's heart from his own body; being born from Kairi's heart and Sora's body and soul as she was, it makes her a very strange Nobody indeed. She came into being in a certain Castle Oblivion, which was found by Organization XIII and then used as a makeshift laboratory for memory experimentation.
Eventually, the power-hungry Marluxia and Larxene conjured up a plot to take over the organization, and it involved manipulating Naminé with her own fear…
They lured the Keyblade Bearer-- Sora-- into the castle and had Naminé modify his memories, slowly, floor by floor as he climbed and climbed, replacing Kairi in his memories with herself. (However, she wasn't able to smother the memory of Kairi completely.) The intent behind this was to get the Keybearer as a puppet; and Marluxia's plan nearly worked if not for Axel, who released Naminé after being told to look after her and, spurred by guilt, she went to go find Sora to explain to him what had happened. Now knowing what was going on, Sora was quick to then defeat Naminé's captors, Marluxia, Larxene, and Axel, although he did not fade as the others did.
(During this, something else to note would be the Riku replica, who Naminé planted more fake memories into. Memories of which were near identical to the ones she swayed Sora with.)
After the defeat of Marluxia, Naminé presented to Sora two choices-- keeping his memories of Castle Oblivion and of her, or having his memories reset to how they had been-- Sora decided to remember Kairi, and forget current going ons. And so, Naminé led Sora to a room with three pods, where Sora and his friends were put in a deep sleep. She then set to work rearranging his memories to the way they had been-- a more complicated task than messing them up in the first place had been.
During the events of Castle Oblivion, Naminé met Riku, too, and tried to help him in his attempts to conquer the darkness inside of his heart. Eventually she leads Riku to the sleeping Sora, at DiZ's request, and offers to seal off the darkness in his heart for him, but he'd have to sleep like Sora is. Riku decides to reject her offer in favor of doing it himself, and she believes he's chosen the right thing.
Some time passes-- about a year?-- and Naminé is still slowly piecing together Sora so that he'll be the boy he was before he ever stumbled upon the castle-- DiZ eventually convinces her to continue her work in an old, abandoned mansion on the outskirts of Twilight Town. It's around there that she meets Roxas-- Sora's Nobody-- and speaks to him, wanting both to meet him as well as shed some light on the truth. She tells him of who he really is, and how he won't disappear when he fuses with Sora, but is stopped by DiZ before she can say anything more.
Meanwhile, her progress on the memory restoration was halted as Sora was not whole: although, once Roxas and Sora rejoin, she is able to finish it and have him awaken. KH is cloudy on what exactly happens next with Naminé-- it can, however, be assumed that it's around this time that she rejoins her Other, Kairi. However, Naminé makes another appearance in the World that Never Was; it isn't really explained extensively on how that happened, but while there she frees both Kairi and Pluto from their holding cell in the castle. Then, they head out to find Sora, and while they are found by Saïx, Riku comes to the rescue and Naminé tells Kairi to take it from here, and she fades.
Later on, after defeating the Kingdom Hearts powered Xemnas, Naminé projects herself from Kairi and makes a portal for them to the Destiny Islands. Roxas also projects himself from Sora at that moment, and the two talk-- glad to see one another again, just as Naminé had promised in the fake Twilight Town. Seeing that not all Nobodies are destined to fade into darkness, Naminé finally fuses with Kairi for good, and without hesitation.
And just when she thinks that the trouble is all over, and she can just be whole-- she wakes up in Template.
Sample Journal Entry: Did the portal mess up? I was so sure that it'd been just fine… we were headed for the islands. Kairi, Sora, Roxas, and Riku… Kairi? Are you here-- why… why are we separated? This doesn't make sense… a portal can't do something like that.
W… where am I? This… I woke up, in a church. I wandered around for a bit, and now I'm very lost. I-I remember Sora and Riku had just... things were supposed to be easy. I don't understand-- I was supposed to have become whole. Now that I'm here, I'm all alone.
Kairi? … Sora? Please, tell me one of you are here.
Sample Roleplay: Naminé awakens, on the stone floor of the cathedral by water's edge. And obviously, when she comes to she's very disoriented, having no recollection of coming to this place before she'd fallen asleep-- only the memory of becoming truly whole, of shutting her eyes and letting herself fade… but not into darkness. Nobodies are supposed to have only that fate, the one of fading into more nothings than they already are, but she was lucky. Her Other was still alive. Instead of following the Nobody's norm, Naminé faded into Kairi's heart. She remembers that-- a minute or two of euphoria-- before it all faded out of memory, and by extension, out of her reach. It's almost funny, how that works.
Laying on the ground, staring at the ceiling as she had been, Naminé sits up-- rubbing at an eye with the back of her hand, she peers around, inspecting the place. It's a very pretty building, that's for sure-- what with the delicate stone and woodwork, as well as the stained glass windows-- and while disoriented, she takes the time to admire it for a few seconds, before shakily pulling herself to her feet. Making her slow way over to the entrance of the building, Naminé hesitates at the door before pushing it open to wander outside.
It's a decently warm day out, with a gentle breeze Naminé feels as she strolls out cautiously onto the grass-- eyes looking out over a river, trees, buildings, mind reeling and heart pounding. The beauty captured in a setting sun and graceful architecture do nothing to soothe her, as it truly sinks in that she has no idea where she is. Shutting her eyes and taking a deep breath, Naminé fights off panic, and starts to wander.
Looking for something-- anything-- that could seem familiar.
