Hey! I'm back!
Has it really been a year since I've tread these waters? I need to come back here more often... That vile thing called facebook is a great promotional tool, but there's just too many damn people there when more personal matters want to be written down.
So many things this year. One year ago today, I didn't use fire sai, buugeng, belly dance, burlesque, or walk on glass. I thought Exit was all the further we were going to get. I never thought I'd be running interviews for people to join my troupe, and managing shows and such. Never thought I'd be performing at a 4K sold out show, or in the tri-state area and beyond.
It was always there, in the background. A dream, but nothing more...something I am constantly working towards, a proverbial light that no matter how much you grasp at it, it always seems further away. It's a good thing... an evolution of desire. Because it's not an end goal but a constantly shifting one, this has been a very happy journey.
I remember when Exit (a dive/punk bar) was all the further I thought I'd go.
But nevertheless, Now I find myself doing all these things. (and more!) Finding that my list of things to do and get appear longer and stranger than ever before.
That being said, hope y'all don't mind me doing some shameless self-promotion. This is a show that my entire troupe is excited about, and we're all bringing new tricks and incredible energy to the table. If you've got the time, it would mean a lot to me to see your faces.
I find myself taking more of a leadership role at work, my boss has moved to Michigan. I'd write more about that, but I have to get to work.
It's also this crazy goofballs's birthday, so give him a ring and wish him a happy solar return.
