From this point on, I'll be much more careful in preparing my coffee. Probably because I was still slightly too tired, I managed to pour the grinds onto the side of the filter, which somehow managed to be folded partly onto itself.
I discovered that only after I was finishing my coffee and took a swig and a mouthful of very fine grinds. I managed to rinse them down with water, but since then (a couple hours or so since) my mouth has tasted gritty and bitter. I only cleaned out the maker a short time ago for my second - grindless - cup.
