--The "I like squares butts" BK/Spongebob/Sir Mix-a-lot commercial SERIOUSLY freaks me out. Just wanted to open with that.
SO! First, there was Las Vegas, NV a month ago. Rather self-explanatory photo album is on Facebook :
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=logo#/album.php?aid=2021095&id=1264366183I really had a lot of fun and can't wait to go back. If you're not chained to a table gambling there is a lot to see and do. On the topic of gambling, I played around here and there (Jenny and Jorge were incredible and gave me an early birthday present of some spending cash), some blackjack and some slots. All in all I lost about $80. But on the way home I showed up freakishly early to the airport and decided to slip $20 into the airport slot machines and play around while I waited. Worst odds in Vegas? Oh yeah, I cashed out $250. Paid for my plane ticket!
It was beyond wonderful to be there when mum and Jim got married. The ceremony was a hoot and Elvis was fantastic, but I still got teary eyed when the behind-the-scenes-vows-with-the-real-minister were taken. My mom has been through a lot in her life, least of all being her trials and tribulations with men. She and Jim are so well suited it's amazing.
Oh, and Elvis may or may not have copped a feel. See also this exchange:
Elvis, mid ceremony: Hey baby, you ever gone all night?
Me: (hilariously stunned silence)
Elvis: (fist bump and wink) There's a first time for everything.
Watching on the live web feed, Kyle found this all very hilarious. I think when we plan our Vegas trip we will have Elvis pick us up from the airport in his pink Cadillac. bestelvisinvegas.com
My birthday was unexpectedly sweet. Kyle fashioned two hand-created and painted frames filled with cord board for me to hang my jewelry on. It's something I've wanted for a while, and I love that he decorated it, but simply. I will take pictures as soon as I find the charger for the camera batteries. Then Patty made me a really well thought out and HUGE gift basket. Some french vanilla coffee, pomegranate tea (DELICIOUS), two mugs that have elephants on them (and the handle has peanuts, ha!), some chocolate covered almonds, photo albums, a pink and black brocade design bag, and the basket itself is PERFECT to keep all the stuff that I usually end up cluttering the desk with. The card made me tear up a little. She also got a whole bunch of people from work to sign another card, and overall it made me feel very loved and warm and fuzzy. I've only been at this store since November!
Ooops, time for work. A REAL update on the incredible situation with my birth father to come!
