At one month out, it's hard not to be in constant wedding brain. Obviously, considering every LJ post I make concerns the wedding.
But I was sitting down this morning once again re-writing and going over the budget, and it occurred to me how incredibly lucky we are. While we're paying for a good 85% of the wedding expenses ourselves, a lot of people have come forward to help us out.
Our DJ is a friend of a co-worker, and cheaper than everyone in the area by at least $350.
My beloved photographer,
magicfuzzball is charging about $1000 less than she should be, and even hooked me up with an amazing (and equally undercharging) professional make-up artist.
After I paid for my wedding dress my Nanny Sweeney came forward with a check for the exact amount.
My mother and her Jim are applying their Stimulus checks to the rehearsal dinner, flowers, and either chair covers/reception costs.
Claude refuses to accept any money for the ceremony. When I asked Arlene what I should gift him with, she said a bottle of Jameson.
Alden refuses to accept any money for altering my dress. Each time he comes over he deadheads some of my mom's flowers for their seeds, and informs me he is collecting his payment.
My future sister-in-law and her boyfriend are playing the bagpipes for the ceremony.
An LJ friend who does incredible stationery work is going to design and print our star wars table names and place cards for the cost of materials alone.
And this Monday (because despite all of the above I'm still whining and fretting) Kim and Joe from work are going to come over to help me tie little ribbons onto all the little tubes of bubbles. Of course, I also promised to feed them, so they claim they have ulterior motives.
