A coconut shell full of sea water

I live in the shoreline
In the liminal space between
land and sea
where the ground drops off and
you're not sure if there will be a shark under you
waiting to bite which isn't
     how sharks work
this isn't how the drop off works

the sea is cleansing;
the curandero raises
his coconut shell
full of sea water
on my head

baptimisms are
my sacred sacrament of choice;
when there is no drop off and
when there is no sea,
i find the baptism in the warmth of my lover,
in the iced coffees i drink in the morning
because what is more of a batism than
cleansing yourself from the inside?
